That's because whenever the admins are thinking about scheduling one, someone suggests it in the forums - which means we can't do it!

Cos they're meant to be secret and a surprise - so if someone has suggested it in the forums for everyone to say "good idea!" it's against the point of the challenge. Also if they say "Let's have an easter challenge tomorrow" it could mean they set their camera date to tomorrow and took an amazing easter photo. Thats another reason it has to be a surprise :)

Sorry, I don't follow this logic. People would half expect a speed challenge on certain dates anyway, but the main problem I have with this reasoning is that you're deliberately not giving the users of this site what they actually want. It's difficult enough to suggest anything for this site that actually will ever happen, so to not provide challenges because someone has requested one and won't be a surprise shows a lack of respect for the people that use this site IMO. |

It's only when specific challenges are requested on specific days that they don't happen. Now we know a speed challenge is generally wanted I'm sure one will be scheduled, in fact last week I suggested it was time for another one in the site council forums.

Is it possible to have an "free study" speed challenge? Whatever was taken that day? Then you don't have to worry about anyone being prepared. And I might even enter one. :)
