What on Earth is going on? I have 3 submissions currently in voting and all of them are in the <5 area. My best of 2014 just dropped to 4.8888 from 5.0000 (to which it dropped from 5.6ish at the beginning). My other two (in Ghost and Something old) didn't even come near the 5.0 limit from the start.
This has never happened to me before. Have i started submitting bad images? Have the criteria of the voters risen? Have the trolls awaken after 01.01? Have others started submitting better images (vote them higher, do not vote me lower)?

| With the low voter turn out for challenges the low votes make a bigger impact. I think you still will have your few that can rise above it and get a good score but the ones that used to get around a 6 are now getting hit really hard. Maybe there is no such thing as middle ground anymore. |

| I've gone from the 6s to the 5s. For awhile I seemed to be always in the 6s with a few 5s here and there. two 5s currently, a 6.0 that's dropping and a 6.4 (for best of) |

Guess I figure the actual score doesn't matter. It's quite irrelevant. What matters is how you score relative to those participating with you.
A 1st place with a 6.8 and a 1st place with a 5.8 is still a first place. The number is pretty arbitrary. |

My lowest right now sits at 3.6... my last few have been under 5.. I have one that sits even at a 5.. even my worst score last year was a 4.05. My lowest score has people laughing or at least putting a smile on their faces.. that itself is worth the time I took to submit it.
Really dont care about the numbers anymore, if that was the case, it would make me quit and never return to this site. Not what I am here for.
That is one thing I will never figure out, and stressing one self out to try to understand it is another thingand not even worth my time
I have other things to worry about and to concentrate on to improve and learn.
Time to go shooting again :-)) I plan on doing what I love to do the most with my hobby take pictures.

Great way to look at things. I have have seen that the voters are quite low these days as well. My photography has improved over the past couple of years while I was away from DPC, but my scores don't reflect that at all. I decided to focus on the growth received from participating in challenges as a photographer and a voter, and to heck with the scores and ribbons. I'll never get a high score or a ribbon and to drive myself nuts over that fact is silly. Focus on what this site can offer, great constructive feedback, and opportunites to interact with stellar photographers! |
