Anyone have any comments about digital lenses vs standard? I am looking into buying a Nikon D70, and I noticed that there are digital lenses and then the standard AF lenses work with it too. Does anyone know of the advantages or disadvantages of one over the other? Other than the digital are lighter and smaller. And, the selection... Thanks!

Since the sensor on the D70 is smaller than a normal 35mm negative the digital lenses don't need to fill as large an area with the image (This accounts for the 1.5 crop factor) This allows them to make the lens smaller, lighter and cheaper. The main down side is that they can't be used on film cameras and if Nikon ever comes out with an affordable full sized sensor digital they won't work on them either.

Thanks for that info rcrawford! That is good to know, I think that I will probably stick with buying standard lenses, especially since the selection is still so much better!
