I decided that this year it's going to be the year of my first movie. My timelapse project did very well and I'm sure this is the right time to try with a bigger project.
Of course movies need money and I'm searching the right ways to get them. Anyone of you has ever tried with crowdfunding? |

If you are talking about Gofundme. I have a couple accounts going right now that I have set up for friends and their health issues due to cancer and I am raising funds through them for their families to help offset costs and I am in the process of setting a third for another friend.. I have helped another friend set up one of those accounts for him because his son is needing funds for a once in a lifetime opportunity and he will be going to florida to be trained by professional baseball coaches and players.. only 10 kids are chosen each year, so that carries a hefty price tag. As of this moment, he has raised over 500$ for him in less than 3 weeks to go by friends and family.
So far over 3k have been donated to the other groups it works well and what I love about it is that it is made for social media.. to be spread on facebook, twitter and the like.
I also have a group that I belong to that uses gofundme to help with a new project for ferral and stray cats. I personally do not own that account. This project we are trapping, vetting and spaying/neutering those cat colonies and making sure they are taking care of so that way they can help control the population.
Does it work? If you have the right funding sources for people to donate for you, friends, family or members of a group. I have yet to see something for complete strangers to donate to any of the funds that we had going.
The downfall is that they do take and keep a percent but it is free to get started and join...
It is safe to use but it takes about 14 days or so before you can get your money, if you are in a hurry to get the money asap, then that would not be for you.
That is the best site, I am sure there are others as well but I know nothing about those.
Good luck in your adventure
Gofundme

KickStarter is another option a lot of people use; not sure if this is US-only or not though. |

Thanks Julie and Jon!
I didn't know Gofundme, so I will check it. I knew Kickstarter and it was my first idea (since I didn't know many of them) - I'm quite sure it can work for Italy as well. |

Keep us in the loop Al, as I am sure there are some more guys like me who would bung in a few pennies.
All the best. |
