Welcome to the Sony experience you wont regret it !! |

Minimal. It's cropped from the top down, so aspect ratio's changed. Processed to BW in Silver Efex with very little customization from neutral. I'm pretty sure this camera's gonna change my processing style quite a bit :-) |

Basically the same as the A7 but with 5-axis image stablization and better autofocus. The in body image stablization makes manual focusing easier as it stabilizes the viewfinder image, especially important when the VF image is enlarged, and of course, makes all of your lenses stablized. One other important difference tween the older and newer models is the mark II now has minimum shutter speed of 1/8000 so you can use your really fast glass wide open in outdoor bright light without a ND filter. Hopefully the mark I will come down in price considerably |
My Sony A7 has a shutter speed of 1/8000. Perhaps the mark 2 is even faster?? I am kind of considering the mark 2 but i think for my low light requirements (not that static) the high ISO of the A7s is probably a better fit. I'm sure the mark 1 will come down in price a lot as you say. It's come down quite a bit already.

My mistake, I probably got that mixed up with the Nikon 750 which I was looking at yesterday. That has minimum shutter of 1/4000.
Besides AF, I think the only other achilles heal for the A7 series of cameras is battery life, but since you're mostly shooting manual focus that may not be much of a problem for you. |

The a7 line has automatic cropping to APS-C dimensions when you mount an APS-C lens, so it's the same FOV wide end as the 16-35mm Zeiss FF optic. |

This answered my question also.
Interesting and very true that a camera might influence the processing.
Looking forward for more of your pics.
One mention though on the subject of cameras. I switched from my Nikon D90 (too heavy_ to a small Canon G12 and am now with a Fujifilm x e2 and I must say that I am somehow pleased that nobody mentioned any difference in my photography. |

Well, in my case I'm compensating for lack of clarity at the 800-pixel level until very recently. So I overprocessed and got all heavy-glow-romantic on y'all. Now I have 1200 pixels AND this incredibly acute sensor, and I'm going to be entering MUCH less "overworked" images, I suspect. :-) |

Went out and shot a concrete squirrel on the Live Oak, put some of my typical CEP4 processing on it. ISO 400, f/8, 1/80

How does one even go about beginning to investigate lenses for something like that? I'd need to get out and actually shoot to justify a new camera... :-)
Have fun with it! |

Well, I've been RESEARCHING the camera since it came out, about a year. And we were hands-on at the Sony store in Palo Altop to try-befre-we-buy, and they had a sale going, and they threw in an extended warranty that even covers against accidental damage, so.... |

Interesting article using this camera with Canon glass (in case you can't part with some of your Canon glass). Of course, weight would still be an issue.

Yup, I've read that :-) There certainly will be a transition period of using Canon glass. Buit weight is my main concern here, so I've let the 17mm TS lens go, very sadly, but it's gone. I expect I'll probably be keeping the 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS for quite a while, and certainly the 16-35mm f/2.8L until I get the Sony equivalent... |

A lot of newer Canon and Nikon glass would be a bit hefty on the Sony's but older stuff tends to be smaller and lighter and work well. A lot of people are reporting good results with Canon FD lenses for example. There is a relatively small Canon FD 24mm f/2 and a f1.4 i'm keeping an eye out for as a potential fast wide (although i'll probably end up going for the Voightlander 21mm f/1.8). The adaptor for Nikon lenses is annoying long though. |

As a recent buyer of a non-IS 300mm f/2.8, it's interesting to think about the value I'd get out of an A7II and its 5-axis in-body ISâ€Â¦ Quite tempting. |

I just picked up a like new Sony NEX 5r. My friend got it for xmas 2 years ago and used it exactly once. So I got it for 1/2 what they paid for it. I've only used it once so far, and I'm really torn on whether I like it or not. I love the size, because like you I'm tired of carrying a heavy camera. But I'm having trouble with the controls being all touch screen. And photoshop won't open the raw files. |

Have you tried updating ACR? It may do the trick. |

Yes, I checked adobe's site and you need at least CS6 or the CC version for the raw files. I have CS5.

Actually, I've been following a lot of mirrorless cameras for more than a year.
Trey Radcliffe is a big fan of the sony, and while you can autocrop for the 10-18, you don't have to. He thinks its a great lens Full Frame. Of course, I think he starts using at about 12mm if I recall (it's been a while).
Here's a link to his equipment part of the site, you'll find it interesting now you're a Sony user: //www.stuckincustoms.com/camera-equipment/
You'll have to dig around the site to find his examples with the 10-18.
