....I'm sure this has been answered already but i'm gonna be a pain and ask anyway!

Where do you draw the line with release forms? If i want to take a pic of a person say, surfing, and sell it i obviously need their permission. What if i take a picture of a protest with 100 people in my shot? Do i need to get one from everyone?

Nope.

You might if you frame it so you feature one person against a background of the crowd, but in general people in a public place, and expecially participating in a "newsworthy" event, give up most of their right to privacy.

You probably don't need one from the surfer either, unless they are personally identifiable (or you identify them in the title or something).
