It's everywhere, but I don't think it's been featured as a challenge before.

Advanced editing.

That's not concrete ... that's mortar. Uhn-ah ... it's fancy grout.

I can hear it now. :-)

Actually, it does sound like fun.

what's the difference between 'Concrete' and 'Cement'?
11/20/2014 05:35:40 AM · #9
Cement is an ingredient of concrete.

There is gravel in concrete

Should have been yesterday, mixed loads of the stuff

Good idea for a challenge.

To stave off unneeded aggravation the challenge should probably be concrete/cement.

I'm already thinking of punny score thead titles for this. How about "solid scores".

First read through, I misread as "unneeded aggregation".

Hmm howzabout somethin that looks like it's made of concrete? Or does it HAVE to be made of concrete?

Sounds fine to me. However, I feel like I tend to allow more liberal theme interpretations. For me, if an image appears to be vaguely inspired by the challenge topic I am happy to give it the benefit of the doubt. Others appear to take a much more literal approach and actively looking for reasons to find fault.

Is it obvious that, even though it looks like concrete, it is clearly not concrete?

Bwa-ha-ha-ha, the ruse that never fails to amuse!

It strikes me that ONLY in DPC could we get into a debate on how fine a line to draw on the concrete/not concrete front. I might just photograph a metaphor in action, that's pretty "concrete" isn't it? Of course, it's not the season for metaphors over here; they've all flown South for the winter...

We could go for concrete's 4th meaning:
4. formed by the coalescence of particles; condensed; solid

Or going to its 3rd meaning:
3. relating to a particular instance or object; specific as opposed to general

to avoid just a slew of textured pictures

Be careful ΓΆ€” the NSA has started collecting metaphors on all US citizens ...
