Last December I installed PsCC...a few months later they had me do another download which added a 2nd Ps to my computer. I have PsCC (64 bit), PsCC 2014, PsCC, I think that only the PsCC 2014 should stay??? Over the past few months I've had some issues and problems with PsCC crashing while I'm editing. Of late it's been happening a lot.

I think I should uninstall and re-install just ONE version of the PsCC 2014??

And let me just point out that I obviously don't know much about computers...

As far as I know there is another reason for this crash, when CC is trying to communicate with server to authenticate (knowing it is all cloud based now), it does not have some system library does not react well and hence it crashes. Though if you un-install then you may need to install all of your plug-ins again as I am not sure if uninstall would actually remove the plugins. I would first ask adobe support to help you determine the root cause.

Called them, he had me take off the other older versions (don't know why mine were still there)...and updated the PsCC...it's seems to be running better right now...actually edited a picture without a crash...YEA!!!

Happy for you!

I also have CC 2014 and CC AND CS6, newer gets install but does not take off older one, either remove it manually or leave it there :)

I have the 64 and the CC2014 and have had no issues. But I'm sure enough of the 2014 now that I'm about to remove 64.

I have problems with mine crashing too. Especially when I try to use NIK plugins with it. Very annoying when I am in the middle of a complicated project. I have resorted to saving as I go, luckily the cloud backs up my work so even if I forget to save all is not lost. But it doesn't save your most recent work. I can usually tell when it is about to happen. Things get slow, then I know to save my work shut it down and open it back up. That usually solves the problem, don't know why it does it but it's annoying.

I've got all 3 on my MacBook Pro. Occasional issues with PS CC 2014 freezing up, but I attribute that more to my not having closed the program for some time while simply closing my notebook and reopening later over a couple days.

As Jennifer mentions, my more common issue is invoking a Nik plug-in (usually Color or Silver Efex Pro) and having it freeze and never get there. Again, this is always after having had it open for a while, so a regular shutdown when I'm done editing (frees all the memory) and occasional reboot seems to keep it operating properly.

That said, the only reason I kept the old CC is that the onOne suite didn't load up properly when CC 2014 first came out. With it operating properly now I should probably get rid of it.

Totally agree that it happens the most when I'm using the Nik Software. Yesterday it crashed in 3 of my photos...sigh but after the tech helped me out, I deleted the extra programs... It's running better. It used to be only when I had it up for long periods of time or complicated edits...yesterday I was working on Photomatix HDR' (monster files). Sigh. So I'll have to save often and turn off regularly to avoid the aggravation of it crashing!!!

Over the years Windows computers seem to have had more of a problem (than Macs) with RAM getting filled and fragmented with temporary data, which doesn't get adequately cleared when it's no longer needed. Eventually the program starts to behave as if you don't have much RAM and crashes. This is why periodically exiting the program completely will help keep you running longer, though saving often will also help clear up "scratch" space.

I don't think this issue has to do with that. At least not on mine. My computer is practically brand new with lots of ram and I run illustrator on it all the time without it ever crashing. This is something unique just to the photoshop program.

The problem may lie in how your PS Cache is set up.

Check which disks are assicned as scratch disks (preferably not the sae as the OS), and how much memory/RAM you have assigned to PS (if it still uses that setting) -- more is better.

But even with lots of memory, the problem I mentioned can occur after using PS for a long session, because some of it doesn't get freed-up like it should. It's kind of like a drain which very slowly clogs up so that you don't notice at first, but it gradually drains less and less efficiently until finally the sink overflows.

Is this windows? if so then what version of OS running? Also is it 32bit or 64 bit processor? the reason is if it 32 bit then I don't think you can beyond a certain limit (this is hard limitation) even though you have 8-16GB ram.

I am running Nik on CC and do not see any issue. I haven't tried CC Nik with 2014 version but surely can check.
