Just trying to get a group read

My ipad has Skype, so it can be used for calling.

Does this qualify the ipad to meet the Extra Rule?

Extra Rules: Your entry must be captured with a device that is also capable of making and receiving phone calls.

Love to have an SC member weigh in, as i am sure i am not only one who has an old phone and would rather use my ipad.

i dont know.

I'm just one SC, but personally I'd be inclined to view a tablet as legal in this context. Tethering the dSLR to the phone, absolutely not. The EXIF will show that it was shot with the dSLR, anyway.

in these days, maybe it would have made more sense to describe it as a "mobile device" freestudy. it's pretty commonly accepted that a mobile device is a tool that people use to access different kinds of media on the go, so it's pretty clear to me at least that a camera like a dslr wouldn't fit into that category.

But I can perfectly set up a mobile call with my Ipad2 since the install of IOS 8. I'm not talking about facetime but a real 2G/3G call like with an Iphone.
So, why exempt Ipad then?

because not every table can do that. so you want to allow iOS devices but exclude android devices? or do you want to include android devices even though they arent phones...

That makes sense, Mike.

I was asking b/c my phone camera sucks! So iPad would be an allowance. I'm sure some tablets can make calls, too, esp with Skype.

2. Use that device.

I'm going to duct tape my flip phone to my DSLR and go from there.

Sound like it will make a great handgrip to help hold the phone steady!

Extra Rules: "Your entry must be captured with a device that is also capable of making and receiving phone calls." Not that complicated.

Wikipedia defines a telephone call thusly: A telephone call is a connection over a telephone network between the calling party and the called party.

An internet call isn't over a phone network, so it wouldn't be considered a telephone call. Looks like no iPads.
