The problem with a "spork" is that
it's neither fork nor spoon:
it's a birdless tree, a handless glove,
a month without a moon.
A spork may wish that it could win,
but that could no more happen
than all the monks agree on what's
the sound of one hand clappin'.
Meanwhile, back in the thread, the Bear
is lounging upon his spire.
He's up there all alone; he's won
the frickin' game entire!

| Spork CERTAINLY wins the "lame retort" sprint and the "failure of imagination" derby, I'll give him that, but I'm still parked on top of him here and eating with real utensils. Chopsticks, anyone? |

I think it's time to quell a misconception:
I'm not a bear at all, and that's the truth.
I'm music FOR the bears, a pleasing notion
to calm the savage breast: no more, no less.
And therefore, all these rude cartoons don't touch me.
I live in my own skin, no mangy pelt,
and whistle as I work, despite that I
can't HEAR the whistle, or the music either
as well as bears (my audience) can do.
So there you have it, friends: I'm no crude beast.
In fact, I think of most of YOU as bears
in all your tiny sporkiness, and play
for you from my high mountain peak as I
breathe the rare air of TOTAL VICTORY!

The essence of a "spork" is that
he totally can't help but
repeat himself (repeat himself)
like some benighted wingnut,
as if the act of doing so
were WORTH the damned repeating.
The rest of us, of course, just view
Spork's stuff as "sorta-cheating".
So, lift a glass in praise of those
who TRY to be amusing,
or (failing that) still manage to
be totally confusing.
Case in point: the bear that sits
smugly atop his mountain
spewing doggerel endlessly
like some semantic fountain.
