need some advice for future challenges please. Quite a few of the comments I recieved on my Opposites pic mentioned they couldn't see how my pic fitted the challenge. To me it was obvious....but then it would be cos I took the pic *lol*.....does it pay to be more obvious so as to focus the viewer on what it is you're trying to say? For instance, instead of 'Sidewalk Chess'something like... 'Is it a Black or White Chesspiece?'

The whole experience of entering the challenges is wonderful regardless of results, made me get right outside my comfort zone (animals) and I'm trying things out, fiddling with the settings on the camera (not using auto), taking photos of things & in places I'd never have thought to go...mixed results at the moment :D it's fun exploring new territories.

Looking forward to the next challenge - sue

The antics of the seagull seem to take the attention away form the chess pieces, it does give the subject a reference thought.

It would be interesting to see more of the chess piece without the distraction. Post them if you have some.

White balance is little off here, animals need more yellow ,warmer feeling instead of magenta cool one !

As one of the voters who didn't work out what the seagull had to do with the obvious b/w motif in the image, I would say if a photo is going to be slightly cryptic then the title has to compensate for that.

If its a blindingly obvious image as mine was then the title can be less cryptic. I fell into the trap of being blindingly obvious on both image and title - doh !

I drove around the Peak District national Park for 4 hrs looking for a pair of lambs (one black one white). Had just given up and driving home I spotted these 5 yards off the road. Then spent another hour chasing them round the field trying to get them to pose ;-)
