Thought I would post these for the heck of it.

First, my Opposites outtake.. the shot I used was my second worst score (whee-haw!) but I'm glad I chose it, since the alternative was another fire and ice one, and badly done. The reasons I chose not to use this should be obvious.

Next is my Habits outtake. I had a really hard time with this challenge, since habits are such a personal thing.... what for many is a habit may be no more than a hobby or a product of nervous energy to others. I ended up only shooting two ideas, and I chose the one that was both riskier and lacking my face. When I use myself as a makeshift model, I tend to want to use Neat Image way too much, and I wasn't sure anyone else would see hair twirling as a habit anyway.

I think I enjoy the outtakes posts as much as the challenges :)

The hair twirling might be more sucessful if you were to try a longer exposure to give a blurring effect to the hands and hair. Just a thought.

I was actually going to try that, and I completely forgot. I was also going to try it with a softer focus, and, again, I forgot. I came up with my second idea while I was still working on this one and never really finished the first, hehe :)

I really like the habits outtake. I think it would have done well if you could have avoided the overexposed background, or even here, cropped tighter to reduce it. Also, a little less Neatimage would be best. IMHO.

My shot got rightfully DQed for Opposites. I got mixed up and used advanced editing, but I still like the shot I got.

Looks like a good prints addition.

Thanks for the comments. The background was one of the major reasons I wanted to avoid doing this kind of shot. I have no real light controlled areas in my house, and working with daylight (behind me was a window) can be difficult.

And I agree about Neat Image, but I'm vain. ;)

That is a great photo, too bad about the advanced editing.

Ah, oh well. Was only at a 5.1444 when it was DQ'ed, so its not that big of a deal to me.

The hair twirling is lovely black and white work. Great lighting and tones. It does, perhaps, look a bit overly smooth, but maybe if you added a fairly transparent glaussian blur layer it would take some of the smoothness and make it look more natural, like a soft focus image. Still a beautiful shot, though, I would have rated it a 7 or 8, I think.

Here's the unsmoothed original for the heck of it. Tones are different, I guess I fiddled with those later :)

There goes my vanity.

Uaagh... as my Habits entry continues to fall, I'm starting to wish I'd used this one.

The grainy one doesn't look that bad, come on.
But I still like the smoothed one better.

I was suprised nobody did a hair twisting entry when I was looking through them. That's a really good shot. Fadoi's suggestion about using a slower shutter speed to show motion might have been a good touch. But overall, I like it. Great facial expression too!

I actually came across a few hair twirling shots.
