Long story, best to go read the first couple pages of this thread. But in brief, MAK found a stray penguin hanging around his place in London. Couldn't find an owner so it was decided to send the penguin, now named Lost, on a world trip, hosted by DPCers, where he is supposed to spend approximately one week with them and going on photo trips with them. Then he is shipped on to the next DPCer. You would have to go through the whole thread to see where he's been, who hosted him, what they did and so on.

In the end, so far as I know, all Lost hosts are to contribute their favoutite Lost pics to a photobook project whose proceeds are to go to support a charity. I'm not up on this end of things but I know that's the idea. Meantime, Lost pics are being uploaded to here and to another photosite for sharing. It was SugarSync, don't know if it still is.

The list of recipients, though, has already long been drawn up and he may have already passed through your area. Unless there is a fellow DPCer in your area due to receive him, in which you could be allowed to do a shoot with him or something, you will probably just have to follow his adventures here.

How fun is that!! I will be a follower poor lost will not last in my household with two pooches that would love to tear him up... lolol

it will be fun to watch though :))

ColorCarnival messaged me today that she has Lost the Penguin and that I was next in line.
Right now life is hectic as I prepare for a new career change, moving the end of August, and a trip to Ireland the first week of Ireland compliments of my daughters boyfriend. So, I told her to go ahead and skip me. MattO should be next in line.

Just swap places with the next on the list - shouldn't make any difference in the long run, just an extra day in the post.

Well the blackberries are ripening nicely, and I remember how Lost would go out in the morning with a pail and pick them and made blackberry liqueur from them last year...*sigh*...

So where is the little guy now?

I believe he is going to be headed to me. I just got back from Vacation and I think Colorcarnival may be done visiting and sending him to me.

Yeah, Shutterpug had asked that it be moved on to the next person so Lost should be in Missouri tomorrow :)

He (she?) is a lot of fun. Had lots of questions asked about Lost and what the heck I was doing with him. I'll post a link to the photos soon :)

So true! And hey, if there are kinda fruits or berries coming into season around your place, and Lost asks you to get a little bottle of vodka for him, watch out...he's mighty inventive!

Brilliant stuff.. This may actually be the very first time a penguin has toured the whole wide world.

Congratulations to all involved, yes, its taking an age to complete but at least it is still on track for completion.

So lost and I went to discover a few things about the small town I live in tonight. We live in a town of 6000 that was built around the Railroad here in the midwest. Our town's largest employer is still the railroad more than a century after it was settled. We have a small memorial dedicated to the men and women who have worked at the railroad. So I went and introduced Lost to a few of them and told some stories about our town. We also visited an old Restored Texaco station. Tomorrow evening we are headed out cake hunting Cake hunting

Nah, he is bloated from all the junk food he eats while in the postal system. One of the drawbacks of travel.
