Is it normally like this for league?

No, it's just a difficult topic. |

I disagree.
If I see proper evidence, I will change my mind. Proper evidence would be the voting patterns of those who are participating in the league, when it's normal challenges vs league challenges. Unfortunately, overall voting averages don't count because it includes people not in the league. |

I think it is....but one of the math genuises will have to give a factual answer to that...every time I've been in league the voting has been lower (or seems to be)...might be that I'm submitting worse pictures....there's that!!!! |

We've checked that in the past and also monitor voting for odd patterns. Seems OK. The only difference with TPL is that people enter topics and photos that they ordinarily wouldn't because they feel obligated, and that will tend to bring overall scores down. |

I wonder what psychological effect that has. I think that if I see a number of sub par photos, my voting starts to skew harsher because I'm getting sick of seeing that. I try to go in and correct scores to be more fair afterwards, but I doubt that is consistent practice. |

That's true for non-TPL challenges, too, and we end up with ribbons scoring just over 6. Unappealing and confusing topics invariably bomb (though maybe with a few standouts), while Hidden Gem will get high scores regardless of TPL.

Oh, I dunno. I rated Asymmetry images within the first hour of roll-over and finished with an average "vote" for the challenge 0.3 higher than my historical average. No trolling here, even though I'm participating in TPL.
I say we wait before the snivelling begins.
Started with 5.3 after 3 votes.
Now at 5.7 after 15 votes.
[ETA to stay on topic - scores]

That would be my pattern. I mean I try to shoot for as many as possible and to get good results, both in-camera and through post processing, but I am of the mindset that any entry - as long as it's the best I can do at the moment - is better than no entry.
That said, I do not enter photos that are, in my opinion, DNMC and I try to honor the spirit of the challenge.

I agree, this was an exceptionally hard topic - assymetry on its own was always going to be fairly hard, but to take a successful photo within the bounds of the actual description, which went a whole step further, was particularly hard. |

The problem is there are usually complaints from NON tpl players that complain about lower scores during the tpl.
So the submitting images to challenges that someone wouldn't usually enter doesn't hold water.
My images are too crappy to notice a drop so I have no idea if it's true BUT I did read plenty of complaints
in the past about low scores during the TPL. |

I used to feel like scores were affected when I wasn't in TPL. I'm in now, and let me just say, I have no complaints today. |

A convenient scapegoat for a tough challenge. Not so many complaints when the topic has wide appeal. |
