Originally posted by backdoorhippie: I always shoot RAW and keep the files, but I convert to DNG, which seems to be a non-starter here. I did happen to notice that, so on challenge shots I've also backed up the NEF files just in case. Cameras are always set properly for time and date, though I've managed to go an hour off with Daylight Savings Time on occasions (almost bit me on a contest last year when shots had to be within a 90 minute window).
While I may be a little young to have qualified as a true child of the sixties, I have them in my family, and unlike many of my friends I seem to be gravitating towards the hippie ideal more and more as I move on in life. You can't take it with you, right? |
Hey there Hippie! Just like you I also grew up with a Kodak 110 in hand, though I usually shot horses and ponies, not GI Joes :-) Also missed the hippie bus but not by too much, only a few years away from the half-century mark. Certainly nothing wrong with going the anti-, or at least less-materialistic, hippy route. Just stick with expensive hobbies like photography and you'll be just fine ;-)
I also shoot RAW (or rather NEF) and convert to DNG. Every so often a Minimal challenge will rear its head in which case you must shoot in jpg format. Usually I shoot both RAW and fine jpg, in case I end up with something I really like.
Haven't yet checked out your flickr profile, will get to it a little later!
Welcome aboard, have fun, and enjoy the ride :-) |
