ive been reading about the 10d and d70 on dpreview forums, and everyone seems to say the 10d is WAY slower than the d70. Is this true, i know sometimes over at that forum they tend to exaggerate a lot.

I'm not really too sure on the settings of both cameras but I believe that a majority of your speed depends on your lens. Your camera will only let you shoot as fast as your lens will allow.
I know my 10D will let me shoot at 1/4000 of a sec, given the right circumstances. |

I don't know if I'd say way, but the D70 is blazingly fast. I shoot up to 12 images depending on format while the camera writes them to the CF card.
The D70 reacts for all practical intent and purpose like a film camera. No waiting for images to write to media. No waiting for the camera to start up. You turn it on, it's on right then.

i think it would depend on what you mean by slower.
slower:
start up time
buffering speed
or max shutter speed |

D70 is faster than the Rebel, anyway - on all counts. Not sure about the 10d. I know since I shot almost 400 pics this afternoon between the two cams. Waited on several occasions for the Rebel, never once waited for the d70. |

I have only heard fabulous things from the D70, and that it is by far one of the faster camera out there.

just wondering. why would you be shooting with two different systems. i understand having a 1D and 10D as backup. but a canon/nikon duo seems weird. |

It is weird. I've always been a Nikon guy and was about to buy a D100, but when the Rebel came out it was too tasty to pass up. Now that Nikon has re-entered the fray, I wanted to try it out. I'll eventually choose one system and stick with it, but I'm taking my time deciding. Pretty much all I've learned so far is that I can't really go wrong either way. And that Jacko is a doofus. But the last part I already knew. :) |

Add in the 10D.
THe D70 hands down. Because of the buffer speed and start up time.
Note, that's speed alone. Not image quality, ISO etc. :)
