I'm curious because there have been many times where I needed a polarizer, or some other type of filter. I don't know much about filters and I'm curious if they can only be used on SLRs, if there are addaptors, or what?

I've used the Cokin system on my Canon A40. It works perfectly.
I strongly reccomend it.

Yes you can get an adapter that screws onto the front of your camera and then you can use different type filters on that.

I happen to have an extra lense adapter (45.6mm - 52mm) (a must for extra lenses or filters) that goes with my C-750. If you PM me I can send it to you. Then all you need are the filters to fit. It extends past the point that the lense comes out for use so that you can keep a polarizer or UV haze on it all the time.
The only thing is, you have to promise not to show me up in a challenge for at least one week after you get your filters.

I just use my polarized sunglasses as a filter because I don't want to spend the money. Granted it is cumbersome and a hastle, but it still works. Just offering alternatives.
