Thanks again. I thought it would probably be illegal. I don't know how the camera (Fujifilm finepix HS 20 EXR in my case) does it, but if it's done well the image is flawlessly smooth and if it's done badly there are repeated and/or missed bits or a wavy horizon.

Maybe the way to handle the first pic would have been to add an admin note that the pic was previously validated but subsequently deemed in excess of the rules. No DQ, but a note added that it has now been determined that it was illegal under editing rules for the challenge. This would allow it to stand for the previous approval but warn others trying to emulate to avoid the in-camera editing process. It could be framed in purple similar to the way DQs are framed in pink. |

This could apply to future 'rule changes' or things that may be deemed later as against the rules. The earlier examples then do not become a player in a current DQ. |
