I really enjoy taking motion pictures and this is one I found still on one of my memory cards from last year. Its out of focus, but any feed back? I try to work on motion photos, but with my camera right now, it's harder than it should be.

If any body can give me any feedback on how to get a better picture, that would help.

What's your longest shutter speed?

Edit: Found it 1/2 sec.

Has almost a painting quality to the shot.

I think using a tripod can help out also. It should allow you to have your subject maintain the motion blur, but having the background still in focus.

This was just a snapshot taken during class in school. It would have been hard to bring in a tripod. I know that it would be better when taken set shots to use a tripod. I need the steady balance anyway. My camera doesn't have the option of setting a shutter speed. Usually it just adjusts to the flash because even for a crappy camera, it has a metering system. The camera usually adjusts. I've been able to take photos of moving cars and get them still, but not be able to get a good single frame shot of someone standing right in fron tof me. Thanks for the help.

You can always brace it against a chair, bench, table, wall, or any flat surface.
