there's one on a saab convertible normally parked down the road that's RICH B - one can only imagine what the B stands for, but one's tongue automatically wants it to rhyme with rich... and isn't the word rhyme lovely? Actually, rhythm is my second favourite word - nt a single vowel. Ain't that cool? OOH, other alternative challenge suggestions - favourite words!

I thought the old saying was...
"A, E, I, O, U and sometimes W and Y..." At least that's what they taught us in elementary school all those years ago...
I believe in the case of the word "Rythm" the 'Y' is taking on the personae of a vowel. |

cool, i never knew that... doesn't mean it is one, though, does it? can't think of any reason why a W might be considered vowel-esque... still, i learnt something today, so cheers mate! |

"Y" is often used as a vowel, generally in place of an "I" -- usually anytime it's not at the very beginning of a syllable, like in the word "syllable."
I have a collection of license plates (and road signs) in this gallery at pBase. I guess I'll crop more tightly for the contest. |

"W" is NEVER considered a vowel. a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes Y. |

Now, to get back on the original topic...
This idea sounds cool... I can see it benig quite difficult to fulfil though... I don't ususally see to many 'Funny License Plates' when I am out and about unless I am behind the wheel.
I suppose people could walk around mall parking lots, of course that might lead to some harrasment from 'Mall Cops' and such...
This could be a very tough challenge to meet. |

Especially for the non-US members. Over here in the Netherlands, our license plates always consist of 2 groups of 2 letters and a group of 2 digits, with dashes in between (eg. RH-VR-59). No vanity plates for us! Of course, I could always take a picture of my Florida license plate, hanging at the wall or another odd location... |

What about including roadsigns and/or advertising/billboard signs. I'm sure there's funny examples of those all over ... |

Hmmm... Perhaps the challenge could be 'Funny Metal Plates/Signs' and include everything from license plates to poorly translated from one language to another language metal signage and other interesting things...
(Like a stop sign at a clearly dangerous place, like at a road that drops off into a cliff face...) |

ok so maybe a 24hr non-member challenge and unlimited entries to fill the void of people not having access to personalized plates or signs. |
