Except the bug has been there since Sept. 2012, and instead of immediately releasing a security patch when it was discovered, they simply waited and bundled it in with other upgrades in a regular release. The OS X update doesn't even mention the fix for the security hole. |

Mine "died", too. I had to go through the whole factory reset and then restore from previous backup rigmarole.
However, since it was the second time this happened, I talked to Apple and they said since the phone DID restore and is working correctly, the phone is fine (although I couldn't get them to actually check it out) and my computer/iTunes is to blame.
So I'll be uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and crossing fingers for the next update. |
sorry to hear that, and thanks for the heads up re: iTunes. my daughter is getting ready to do the update and i'm hoping it goes smoothly for her :O

don't know about my friend's phone, but i'm pretty sure my daughter's phone is ok in that regards. |

My phone (5s) took the upgrade without a hitch. My iPad2 was totally hosed and had to be rebuilt in recovery mode.
