I'm really struggling to define his work....at best it seems to belong to a moment, or era....something hard to reproduce, now that's a challenge!!

Goes back to this:

Look at and be inspired by his work -- by the way he approached people, places, and photography in general. Take a lesson from it and apply it to your own moment, your own era.

Well, I'm in. I can't believe I keep doing this, "this" being entering photos I love but which I know will probably score in the bottom third at best.

This is very good advice and applies to the participating members AND the voters.

I'm as un-winogrand as a photographer can get, and I'M in. With a picture I actually think is appropriate and meaningful in context. Kiss of doom :-)

I'm in. I really like my shot. I hope others do too.

For me, those are the most important images on DPC. If you love your image set it free... ;-)

I almost never shoot people or street photography (sorry Garry for using the term). However, I really got into his photographs and articles about him earlier in the week and had a ball yesterday trying to emulate his work. Don't know if others will agree or not (voting will tell, I suppose) but I ended up with several that I liked and had a hard time picking between them. This was a fun challenge for me primarily because I almost never do this kind of thing. So... I'm in.

It's not about emulating his work - it's not even an "in the style of" challenge. The description states: "Create a photo inspired by his style of photography.", so I'm going to vote on the merits of the photo with somewhat of an eye for the nod to Winogrand, but won't be handing out DNMCs for this one.

I think this is one of the best things about DPC - getting people to try things they don't normally do. And learning about stuff in the process! :-)

Good to hear this, I like people stepping out of their comfort zones, it's the only way we will grow!

I'm in, and have to admit it's these challenges I love the most, Street photography is 'life' it's real, and that's why I LOVE IT!

That's what happened with me. Thank gawd for the Lumix though: I couldn't have done it with the big gun.
