Ostensibly is is a place to test and improve your photographic skills. Perhaps even a revenue stream for the owner.

A place to learn from the mentoring of other?

But it seems to have become a place where tears are shed for the passing of people never met... The expression of regret for silenced voices that were never heard...

Perhaps it has become family, if virtual in nature, but family the same. Departures are missed, arrivals and returns rejoiced...

Perhaps this is why the arguments sometimes get deeper, and the opinions stronger, whenever the site seems threatened.
