The clue is in the shape of that distant mountain. I want to say Maui, so I will. Either the North Shore or somewhere along the road to Hana. I'm going with the windy road. |

The rocks are older than those on Maui. |

well I was just on Kauai and I don't think its there, so that leaves us at the north shore of Oahu (unless you are a leper of course) |

This is neither the north shore of Oahu or Moloka'i. |

Let's see, that leaves Lanai and Hawaii, as far as I can remember, and since Larry Ellison owns virtually all of Lanai, I'll shoot for Hawaii, the island. |

I have never been to Lanai....and Hawai'i is too young. |

the Big Island is younger, so we are on Oahu for sure. And not on the north shore either, and that ain't diamond head, so I will guess the southeast shore, around Ka'ena Point

It is not Oahu either...I think you didn't realize you were there. Now, can you figure out where on the Island it was taken? |

Wrong side of Kauai. This is a sunrise (facing east) so the land (Napali) would be on the right side of the image.
This is on the south side of the island, close to Poi'pu. You walk up a path from Shipwreck's beach and here you are. Very much worth the walk before sunrise.
You guessed most...you are next.

Yes, I realized after I posted it wasn't steep enough for Napali and was going to guess somewhere around kapa'a looking north. Did not spend much time in Poipu this time; we were up north near Kilauea. Beautiful pic of a beautiful spot btw.
And now for something completely different. Where, and what, is this?

I did it just for you Paul: since I knew for a fact you'd driven down that way, the only question was how observant you'd been :-) |

I read Sherlock Holmes as a kid and my dad was a science teacher ... I try to pay attention. :-)
