Okay, simple question: What are the usage requirements on the digital images? If I would like to us a particular photo on my website. Can I? |

Not without express permission/license unless it is in the public domain or has a Creative Commons license. The copyright to all images posted here are retained by the individual photographers. |

The same they are for any other image. You must have permission or purchase the right from the legal owner of the image. Otherwise you are in violation of copy right law. |

Thank you very much for asking, by the way. |

Thx. I should mention that I scoured the site for ANY information regarding usage rights. Nothing. This seems like an important question, and I can't believe I'm the first one to ask it. If I am, it's likely because since no one can find anything suggesting prohibition of use, they just go ahead and download it. It seems to me that there needs to be a prominent notice somewhere (if not everywhere) that unauthorized use is prohibited.
About contacting the rights holder, am I correct that the only way is to send a direct message through this site and hope that they check it?
Thanks |

It's on the bottom of every page:
"All digital photo copyrights belong to the photographers and may not be used without permission." |

It's at the bottom of every page. Even this one. "All digital photo copyrights belong to the photographers and may not be used without permission."
And yes, that's how you contact people. It will be forwarded to their email, so there shouldn't be a problem with people receiving your messages. |

Just because there's no disclaimer does not mean that you have any right to use anyone's image without their express permission if it's not within Creative Commons aegis.
The photographer of the image retains copyright to their images.....they may choose not to go after you, but it's simple decency to ask permission.
You'd want to be asked before someone just up and used your image, right?
