With the help of Sammie and faidoi, I've decided to start checking out stores for purchasing my new camera (although I still have to save up the money). I know that DPC links to pricegrabber.com when you go to shop cameras. I checked it out and found some great prices, with varying rankings for the different websites. I'm a little weary about using a 3rd party online store to purchase a 500 dollar camera. So far, I'm stuck with B&H, although I have found sites with lower prices. I just wanted to know if anyone can recommend any sites they believe to be "bargain" sites, or if they know anything about how good some of these sites actually are.

I have bought things all over the internet and so far I have had great success. I have bought all kinds of things from cameras to cf memory from places like: B&H, 42nd St. Photo, 47th St. Photo, DigitalFoto, NewEgg and places like that. My boss just recently bought a Tamron F2.8 lens off ebay from one of the merchants for $550. My best advice is to check out the ratings/comments from people that have purchased there before. I also double check their return policy. I check things out around town to make sure I find exactly what I want then I order it. On every one of my purchases they have been shipped immediately and I have been completely satisfied. I do pay with a credit card and have some recourse if I should need it.

Hope this helps! Good luck.

I have bought a lot of memory from NewEgg and they are great. They also have a good return policy. I can place an order on Monday and have it by Wednesday with free shipping no less. They have no form of technical support for any products so you need to know what you want when you order. Before I purchase something I try to check out the reviews at Pricegrabber and CDnet. I like to see what people are saying that actually use these products. Then I check out the sellers ratings.

Thanks for the web site. I will check it out.

Thanks for the website Seanachai, but all that website does is give you other websites that carry the product. The problem is that I don't know how good some of the websites they give you are. But thanks anyway. I've seen a lot of advertising for new egg and they have the camera I'm looking for for about 40 dollars less so I'll check out some site reviews because I've already throuroughly read about the camrea. I spent most of yesterday afternoon doing that.

While on the website given by Seanachai, I found a site called bestpricecameras.com. It had the camera for only 350, compared to B&H's 500. Any one ever heard of the site?

Which camera are you searching for again?

Because of what you had said, I checked out the C-5060 and decided that you and Sammie were right, and that would be the one.

When you find a web store you are tempted to buy from, check out:

//www.resellerratings.com

You will get an independent appraisal (from customers) as to whether they would buy from them again, problems etc.

I buy lots from the web. I usually find the lowest price on one of these three stores:

www.buy.com
www.amazon.com
www.newegg.com

I did just order some media from a new store, which came the next day, even though it was free shipping and a really low price. I'll have to look it up later though--have to go for now.

adorama is reliable...not sure about competitive prices, but i'm a local regular. i've ordered from tristate.com and buydig.com with no problems. actually, with buydig i ended up returning a camera that my company bought AFTER the 14day trial period. it took a bit to get my phone calls returned, but they were never difficult.

i dont remember who said it, but i usually try to read reviews of sellers. ith ink thats the best policy. try to find good reviews on multiple sites.

The store I had to look up that I just ordered from (first time) was

Shopperwiz.

Before I ordered, I checked their profile:
