| nope -- scary is when it really happens -- when you're driving down the road and someone is texting, heading straight towards you on your side of the road. I've had it happen. |

I can drive drunk while texting and eating a cheeseburger - or even fondue.
...at least for a block or so with minimal damage or injury to myself or others.
But I don't. ;-)

| I don't even like to *talk* on the 'phone while driving. I would never even think of trying to text while driving. Stupid, that's all it is. |

sadly, tragically, that hits close to home for me :(
if you are a runner, you may already know about megsmiles. the story went global, and puts a very, very visible face on the consequences of distracted driving.
eta, this happened a few miles from where i live, a few hundred yards, from my church, to someone in my community. it happened just a few miles from where i took this

im convinced this wont stop until they stop giving fines and start suspending licenses. But even then that wont be enough.
luckily technology will save us.

The ultimate lack of respect for others. NOBODY can drive safely while they're texting.
Just the other evening, some idiot almost took out TWO cars when he veered into one lane because his head was buried in his phone, then overcorrected in the opposite direction. When I passed him he never even looked up. Doing 40 with his eyes glued to the phone on his lap. |

| When I was commuting into Seattle in heavy traffic a couple times a week, I couldn't believe how many people I saw texting and staring at their phones while driving. I almost crashed a couple times trying to take photos of them. :P (kidding about the photos). |
