You'll have to be specific about what this actual item was used for, not what mechanism it is.

I've used one of those -- this doesn't look big enough and is possibly stainless steel.
It looks a lot like the crank on some window-opening mechanisms (metal frames, hinged on the side) but those aren't usually that shiny. Possibly for some medical equipment/device? |
