I reserve 10s for the really epic photos. I usually give 1 or 0 in a challenge. Seldom 2 10s. Far less often I award a 1. That's when the photo really isn't something to look at (in my opinion) and is completely not in line with the challenge - not even a shoehorn.

 When do you give a 1? |

		| I reserve my 1's for when I can be sure an image has been made by a Marc Klynhans, not because the image itself is bad, but more because he asks daft questions. :) |

Vote however you feel best :) that's one of the great things about the site! Your not accountable to anyone regarding how you vote! if you vote fairly.

Just use the scale from 1 to 10 as you see it! and most of all enjoy your time here :) |

I do, and I do... :) Thanks. Just wondered if there were differing methods of how others vote. I have heard of some who 1-10 the challenge, but I vote each photo individually, not relative to any other one in or out of the challenge. |

Apparently you and a few others feel the same.
I seriously don't know why I subject myself to this anymore.
It's fun to take the photos and respond to a theme, but if I just don't enter... .well it's an idea anyway.

 When do you give a 1? |

I used to give a 1 for DNMC... when they CLEARLY did not meet the challenge, even with a shoehorn (shoehorns to me are just clever, innovative ways of meeting the challenge).

Now I normally score 4-10 with the 9s and 10s being exceedingly rare.

If a photo does not meet the challenge, then I apply a standard -3 penalty. I rate the quality of the photo, then ding it with a -3 penalty for spelling errors, er DNMC.

So then *IF* a photo is 4-worthy and DNMC, it would get a 1, but more often than not, it gets a 2 -- most of the people who know how to read a challenge description can actually take decent 6+ photos, so the -3 doesn't hurt them as bad in final score. However, we've had many veterans here who DNMC and still won, so you never know the power of eye candy.

		If it's in color, I give it a 2.

 If it's in focus, I give it a 2.

If it's in color *and* in focus, I give it a 1. |

I mentally suffered dearly because mine has bright blue in it and such good focus. The only saving grace is it's at 4.3 |

PennyStreet, your street photography entry was my favourite of the challenge. My highest scores in the challenge were two 8s and one 9. You were the 9. |
