Hmmm. Well. It looks like the central portion is removable using some sort of spannner, correct? Does the object contain some contents under pressure?

It's a part of something, but it does NOT require a tool.
It's part of a container that holds something else, but it's definitely not under any significant pressureâ€Â¦that would make for a bad day. |

Unlike many of my posts here, it's not really engineering related aside from the fact that I'm an engineer and I use it everyday and like everything manufactured, it was engineered.

Close enoughâ€Â¦it's the inner seal of the sealing mechanism on my OXO Liquiseal coffee cup.
If you drink coffee in the car or anyplace on the go really, you should have one of these. I can put my coffee in it, turn it upside down and shake it with no leaks.
