This is truly amazing... All eyes on the FB and that's awesome... Can we make it 200 "Like"s today? There is no reason not to... Hundreds of members, thousands of registered users... and their friends... I believe it will reach to that amount today... Need only a few more. Let's put more eyes on DPC!!! |

It just seems strange to me that you are spending all this energy to drive people to a website OTHER than this one with the hopes of driving people here. Again, why don't you just promote DPC on your individual FB pages and exponentially spread the word. That drives everyone HERE and not to FB where they then have to follow another link to get here...why does FB have to be the middleman?
I am all for promoting this site and am more than willing to do my part and/or contribute. I just don't understand why driving people to Facebook helps DPC when the same energy could be spent driving people directly to DPC. Multiple FB pages, Chat rooms, and such. All great ideas. But when you need to concentrate the populous here, why spread them thin before you can even get them in the fold? Drive them here to discover we have a FB page and then let them link it when they see how great this community is. Again, exponentially spreading the word. This is the hub - not FB.

CEJ,
I don't know if you use FB or not. It does appear that you do not see the point of social media. When a person likes something on the DPC FB, all of their friends see it. If more here like it there, more friends of the people here see it. An instant, "tell all your friends".
Plenty of other web site businesses maintain a FB presence. Why not have one for DPC?
This thread has been active long enough, that if the SC or Langdon saw it as counterproductive they could have stepped in publicly or privately.
Is it the absolutely best possible way to promote the site? I have to say I do not know. But, at least he is doing something. If nothing else, he has at least gotten this level of interest generated. Which does not mean that you or others should not question the logic. A questioning attitude is a good attitude. Hopefully, there is not a question as to Leo's motives. He has put his money where his mouth is, to support DPC for years now.

I think this line just answers all your questions about FB. If I didn't know about DPC that I learned from a FB friend, how can I promote it, or join to it? |

Glad there is a page now. Nice JOB!
I was thinking that the fact that there was no offical DPC Facebook page until now is surprising. But I see there was a page.
Either way, I liked it ;)
