This American pilot can be credited with re-igniting the French resistance. All with a very simple dogfight with a German fighter over Paris. He did receive France's highest award. There is no telling how much longer the occupation would have been if he had not done what he did...

I saw that yesterday. What an amazing sight that must have been. It's sad to think that we won't have anybody around from that generation before long.
