Hey, it became obvious that there are a few of us here in Montreal and surroundings. Three of us (unknowingly) submitted images of the same rusty building in the last challenge.
Perhaps we could get together to talk turkey, or photography, if that is more relevant. Or have a beer. Or whatever.
Maybe we could communicate before we submit so that we make sure we aren't submitting the same subject again. ;). I'm sure I lost valuable points because people thought we were cheating. My score climbed over half a point after the validation. Just a thought.
Anyhow, let's start by seing who's out there in Montreal or surrounding areas and if we're friendly.

I already brought it up with Aleks. He lives not very far from me.
I'm pretty sure we are more than 5-6, many have only mentioned Canada, but I'm pretty sure we are more.
Anybody else?

Only 6 hours drive here (Northern New Brunswick). If you can arrange a shoot with DrJones' model, I'll be there in a heart beat.

Hey Mario, I just bought a cottage and will be spending most of my weekends there but you never know! Keep us posted!

I'm proudly from Montreal and I would actually go to a get-together of mtl's DPCers. A friend of mine, Ceyval is also a Montrealer. You guys will probably don't accept us with our little point and shoots though :)

BruB remember the old saying: "It's not the size that matters, it's how you use it!" LOL ;-)

I think most of us started out with P&S cameras. When you get the bug, and you will, hopefully the $$$ will come too, and you can upgrade. In the mean time, you're more than welcome to join us. Just spend lots of time here, and learn and listen, but most of all, take lots o'pictures!!!
Jacko, if anybody was going to mention our good Dr., I knew it would be you. We'll let you know if he joins this little gathering. Grand Falls, isn't that far away. Sens toi bienvenue, buddy.
Any thoughts as to where and when we could do this? I think it would be fun. Seems like lots of others are doing it all over the globe. We could get together and gripe about how we pay more for all our photo equipement up here in the Great White North.

LOL yup, especially since the US$ has gone back up to $1.40. Last year around July it was $1.28 and got quite a bargain at B&H even when you added the taxes and shipping.
How about the weekend of June 19 in Old Montreal? Lots of ops for people shoots and architecture.

Yeah! I know this great spot where you can can a really good view of some old rusty grain silos....DOH! So do you...and everybody else.
Sounds pretty good to me. I'll have to double check my work schedule. I'm pretty busy in June, some weeks even on the weekends. I work for McAuslan Brewing and summer is our peak period. Offhand, I think that week end would be good.
Anybody else? Yannick, Ottawa's not too far? When do you start going to your cottage? Others?

It's a great idea!!! Going to shoot some hundreds shot, take a couple of beers, go shooting again and then compare ;-). Seriously, I'm from montreal too (st-jean-sur-richelieu) and would like very much to meet other montreal DPC'ers. June 19 is good for me. By the way, si nous sommes tous de Montreal on peut surement se comprendre également en français. Ça fait du bien d'écrire dans sa langue sur internet. |

I have two cousins who I got into photography. We all live in the same corner: around Loyola campus. One of them is the second place winner of the abstract challenge! He took it at my house with my camera... hmmm I think I deserve half a ribbon for that one... hehe, than again, I have to split credit with him on pictures like Aqua Vita, James Bond's Assassasination, Blind Sorrow, Bar Fight, Peeping Through a Polarizer and many more. He's my partner in crime. But now he's off to Europe for 3 months :( Well, at least I still have my other cousin who's doing quite inspiring stuff with me these days aswell.

Hey Jacques, why don't you come down, over, whatever. Bring the family. I've seen so many photos of Samuel, that I feel like he's one of my own. I have three kids, so sometimes I lose track. :~
