There's a really good photo essay in the New Yorker today, In Waiting: The Greek economic crisis in pictures.
I think it's excellent. There is a really interesting stillness and sense of apprehension to the images that sum up the worrying situation well. Check it out. |

Great photo essay. That's an example where context and captions are a critical part of it. It offers a sense of immediacy and presence (presence in absence).
Of course, it's also possible to have a photo essay with no words.
