Haßloch is the largest village in Germany. Back in the day, when they approached the appropriate authorities to apply for township they were denied, but having grown over time they reached the requisite size to be considered a town, not a village. When informed by the authorities that they were not only large enough to become a town, but had grown to be the largest village in all of Germany, they said Kool, we're famous for something! So they chose to remain a village.

Seems like a long way to go to get to my factoid, but here it is: That's the best thing about Haßloch.
