What did you get off Santa? I was good this year, so as well as my surprises I got;

- A Victorinox Ranger (Swiss Army Knife)
- Emergency shelter
- Flint and steel
- Windproof matches
- A water purifying straw

So I'm off to live in the mountains for a while.

Santa just bought me a fully accessorized Fuju X100s...

Incidentally, my New Years resolution is to not buy more shit this year.

Good luck with that.

Gear acquisition syndrome knows no bounds. Today I found a swiss army knife forum with people who can't stop buying knives.

Shouldn't be that hard -- there's less than 12 hours left ... ;-)

Santa brought me a little radio controlled quadcopter. Coolest gift ever. Flies pretty well, but is still small enough that it doesn't hurt when I crash it into my own head.

Santa brought ME a dandy small Lowepro pack to supplement my big, bulletproof, waterproof Pelican case. This is the pack, mine's the orange one. It holds my 5D2, my 17mm TS, my 16-35mm, and my 24-105mm, any one of them mounted. I could swap the 100mm macro for any of them also. I could carry the 100-400mm at the expense of two of the others.

What this does for me is give me a compact, accessible case that I can toss gear into when I want to lock the car and venture afield on foot. Mostly, I work from the car, but a lot of times when I go down on the flats or into the fields or up the beach, whatever, I limit myself to just hand-carrying camera+lens, because the older, bigger pack I have is too much hassle... It'll carry the tripod too, rather nicely.

Santa and my daughter worked together. My daughter brought me a polar bear and a panda bear from WWF and Santa brought me a Lexar 32g 600x sd card so I can take pictures of the bears when I find them!!

I got YakTrax so I won't fall on my ass again. Screen printing gear. Wool socks.

And most importantly, I got to wish my grandmother a happy 100th B-day on Christmas day.

Sooner or later you will nevertheless need this one: Wenger Giant Swiss Army Knife - read the customer reviews, and any doubts whether you really need it will be replaced by an urge that you just can't resist and have to get it. Maybe tell Santa now, so he's prepared for next time around. :-J

Yeah that knife is a piece of work isn't it. I'd get it but I'm not sure I could fit the damn thing in my pocket. (smile)

I'm definitely putting that giant knife in my 2014 Santa's letter. With a lanyard and a belt clip so I can use it as my EDC...
