Part of the problem is that, Senator Cruz's recent stunt aside, there no longer are any actual filibusters; merely the threat of a filibuster is all required to stop the confirmation process. As mentioned, virtually no candidates are rejected once a vote is allowed, so the motivation for the delay is clearly not one of concern for the nominee's qualifications (except perhaps their being too good), but rather an attempt to sabotage the efficient operation of the government for political gain.

Keep spinning, Doc. Keep spinning. The facts clearly show federal deficits are lower under Democratic administrations than under Republican administrations. It's also been clear for as long as anyone's been paying attention that Republican's don't have any problem with deficit spending . . . unless it's done during a Democratic administration.

It's all part of a clear pattern: Republican's spend to enrich their constituencies (aka "rich folks" and military contractors) and depend on Democratic administrations to actually effect the "fiscal restraint/responsibility" that they talk about but don't actually practice.

ROFL.. Imploding isn't quite the right word, but I'm at a loss for words to some degree here...

The latest revelations about the fact that all of your data (if you've actually used the site) has probably already been stolen, the Government is under no obligation to ever disclose such a security breach, and that the website has basically no semblance of data security built in are just.... are just... wow....

Effectively, not only is it a broken piece of junk, it's one of the most tantalizing targets ever created by man. Great work guys... Now, can ya'll please remind me why we decided it was a good idea to put them in charge of anything? Seems to me that most of them aren't competent at any known skill other than blustering endlessly...

If I understand correctly (and I am not at all versed in this area of law), the Federal Government isn't exactly subject to this due to some superseding law that removes the responsibility of disclosure. Granted, if they ever did disclose, they might have to fine themselves..... Bet that'd teach 'em... smh.

I think this falls under data security law, and in that realm the Fed is pretty much insulated entirely from any need to disclose, where state and local governments would be obliged to disclose.

Now, with that being said? Perhaps the lawyers can convince them that this actually supersedes the other laws, and they'll come out and tell you your information has been stolen.

Doesn't really matter if they disclose or not - if you've entered your data at this point, you might as well sign up for a credit monitoring service, since it's almost certain that the data has been accessed by unauthorized assholes.

"I think it comes down to humility. That prompts us, literally, to fall to our knees and to say thank you," said Dolan. "It also reminds us that we're not the center of the universe. It's not about me."

Well, if that's true - that God puts premium on humility - we've all seen political campaigns. How could any politician of any party have the nerve to invoke Him?
