Hmm... I'm wanting to get another camera to complement my 10D.
At the moment I'm considering either the Elan 7 (EOS 33), or the PowerShot A80. I've already been in the shop and tested both cameras... they're both very nice but I can't afford to buy both LOL.
So for a change, I thought I'd fish for opinions over here instead of my other haunts... :D
The main thing that I like about the Elan 7 (EOS 33) - it will also double as a backup for my 10D which would be very useful if I am on a job/assignment (not that I get many... o.O). Also I like the full frame coverage - finally get to fully utilise the 28mm end of my lens LOL!
The main thing that I like about the A80 - small and compact, can take it wherever I go when my primary gear would be more of a hindrance. Also I like the swivel LCD for taking ground-level and overhead shots.
So....... any comment?
Thanks in advance,
:)atwl

depends! do want an affordable high quality back up to your 10D, broaden your horizon kind of thing, the elan 7 is a great choice.
if you are looking for something that you can toss around and drag with
you when you don't want lug your dslr then the A80 is a great choice.
just my 2 cents! |

If you decide to go film the Elan is a great choice. If you decide to stay in the digital format I'd suggest you see what's out there beyond Canon. Here's a few in the same price range as the A80:
Kodak 6490- 10x zoom, big LDC
HP R707- 5.1 mp
Fuji S700- outputs 6 mp files (2832x2188)
Fuji S-5000- 10x zoom, full manual controls
Minolta Z1- 10x zoom
Minolta DiMage Xg- ultracompact
Nikon 3700- compact like the A80
Olympus C-740- 10x zoom
Olympus Stylus 410- weatherproof
Pentax Optio S4i- 10mb internal memory, very fast shutter
Expand your horizons. Don't get stuck in the "brand loyalty" rut without at least looking at the competition. Maybe the A80 fits your needs best but give the others a chance, you may find one you like better.
