This is really bad form, as there were already votes cast |

Yeah, I was a little shocked it happened actually. |

I don't mind that they extended the deadline for submission because some people worked really hard and couldn't get theirs in, but it looks like they also extended when the photo could be taken to today as well, so some can legally go out and do another shoot. |

So if someone submitted on the original deadline and got a poor reaction, can they submit something else instead or is their entry locked?

Hope someone will answer you, but I'd say that with the meager 4-6 votes received by any entry, one can't tell a thing about overall reception. |

Langdon said in the other thread:
"It seems like a number of people could not access the site last night (myself included). Despite the fact that rollover did occur and the Droste challenge has been accepting votes, it would be a shame to not let folks submit entries who had them ready. I've extended the submission deadline for Droste by a day. I don't think it will be the end of the world that the images may or may not have been seen by some folks."
It would seem to me that even if it was possible to enter a new image, those folks would probably want to consider the sportmanship aspect. |

What would the point of a do-over after 5 votes anyhow? I currently have an image in voting that was mid 4's after a couple votes, but is not teetering with a 6. |

Maybe we can ask them to close their eyes when they re-shoot. |

I would not consider re-shooting - but if someone wants to take advantage of the extension to do so, that would certainly not bother me. However, I was teetering between two images I'd worked up and really wanted to ask my team's opinion and couldn't. Went with one - today they agree with me. Had they liked the other better, I would have switched my entry out. |

I started on an entry last night but was too lazy to finish it so it is a nice opportunity to enter still however I may be getting my Christmas tree tonight so may prefer to decorate it and drink lots of mulled wine instead:) |

In my case, I just had a surgical procedure on Wednesday, so in anticipation of that I'd cobbled together something earlier and entered it. Yesterday afternoon Penny drove me around a bit and I got something else to work with, but I wasn't up to processing it last night. This morning was another story, so I've swapped my entry out for the newer one :-) It WAS shot before the original deadline, though... I doubt that it will do any better than the first one, comes to that.
I did start voting at rollover, so I saw one image last night that I think's very likely a ribbon shot. The sneaky part of me saw the extension this morning and said to itself "You know, I bet I could drag this Bear out to replicate that potentially ribbon-winning image, wouldn't that be fun?" Fortunately, the ethical part of me told the sneaky part to go soak its head :-)

That's just it -- the totally new entries won't be noticeable. I had modified mine and wasn't able to upload the new version. It's going to be noticeable. Are people going to slam it because they'll think that I went and tried to enhance it in the new time?
Hopefully people don't assume. Just accept it for what it is and vote on the entries as they are. |

Add extra time is ok. I can live with people improving theirs (not in the right spirit IMO but it's ok). Reshooting is different. Langdon should have given one extra day but shots should have been taken one day before. I don't think I'm saying something too weird. |

Sure, you people don't have Thanksgiving, so there is no natural barrier to allow Christmas preparations from spilling over to Remembrance Day. We in the US have to wade through all the leftovers from Thanksgiving before we can get serious about Christmas.
As one of the folks who didn't get their submission in, seeing the extension notice was a bit like an early Christmas. |

The same here in Italy. Until 5-6 years ago Christmas stuff could be found only at the beginning of December. It doesn't make sense... |
