I was looking at some of Annie Leibovitz's new stuff and started looking at Pascal Dangin (the fellow who does her retouching) and found this great interview with him in the New Yorker. âJust by the fact that he works with you, you think youâre good,â Leibovitz said. âIf he works with you a lot, maybe you think, Well, maybe Iâm worthwhile.â
Well worth the read, not so much how to, but when and why.
For how to I started rethinking how I use curves (which seems to be Dagin's master ability) and I stumbled on this introduction to Levels and Curves which taught me a few new tricks that seem to be in Dagin's toolbox. |

This sentence sure stood out:
"Dangin had actually assembled the cityscape mostly from hundreds of random images that his staff had culled from the Internet." |

That's interesting. I'm wondering if they paid for any of those hundreds of images? |
