I don't know the location of one but here us a real quick summary...
1. Set up your camera on a tripod and frame your scene.
2. Take a bunch of shots
3. Load shots into layers in photoshop, or your editor of choice
4. Mask in/out people, animals, etc. as you see fit.

Yea, I just started looking into masking. I will start playing tomorrow. |

It would be fun. I hope I could make suitable weather and suitable location coincide.

This sounds like fun. An Expert challenge that I'd be ALL for. |

As described, this technique almost requires a tablet ...
Note that there is already one Expert challenge open for submissions, -- people do tend to complain when they come clustered too closely.... |

I, likely the most vocal of those "people", promise to not complain. I also think the current expert topic is a great choice.
There. On record. :D |

I think a special rule should be added...
"Multiple captures may be used, however the framing for all captures must be identical." |

And give us two weeks (or longer). Since this would take editing that many of us have never attempted before, extra time would be appreciated.
Or, worse case, make sure it's a Friday challenge. I'm sure many of us can really only get out to shoot on the weekends, and that would at least give us the evenings during the week to work on it.

But isn't that already in effect under Advanced rules? |

Sort of, but it also requires the scene not to change. I recall one DQ where duck/goose appeared in one frame and not another. Since the duck was not in every source image, the scene changed it was deemed a DQ.
I was suggesting the rule to ensure that all the images were of taking with the same framing to keep with the spirit of the challenge idea. Otherwise, under expert, you could just place anything you shot during the week into the scene. |

Frankly that whole 'multiple-captures with same framing but NO changes to composition' rule totally baffles me. Yes, I *get* that the idea of being able to combine up to 10 captures of the same landscape with clouds, water etc is so they can then piece together a pic compiled of the best wave, best light, best clouds, etc. But to me it's too much of a risk; it's just a DQ waiting to happen IMHO. So I remain a single-capture person. |

The point is that we are only allowing multiple captures to extend the dynamic range or Depth of Focus to overcome the physical limitations of the lens and sensor, but not to create a scene which is different than what you'd capture in a single shot if your camera had a "better" sensor or lens. It is not exactly intended to piece together the "best" element from each shot ...
In this challenge suggestion, it is explicitly intended to create a scene which never existed by combining multiple elements which appear within the same scene at different times; the additional restriction prevents combining multiple backgrounds into a panorama, or adding elements added from another scene altogether. |

It would have been a better choice an extra rule to force people to shoot from the exact same spot.
I like the idea and I'll be in, even if the photographer's images seem to me really boring. In a crowded day/hour he would get the same result... more or less, of course :)

Given that this is running under "Expert" rules, multiple images isn't an issue at all - correct? As long as they are all taken within the challenge time frame ... |

There's no yellow flag denoting additional rules so I think you're right, although if its not composed in the spirit of the challenge I'd imagine it would suffer in voting |
