i added 2 adj layers to my image:
Hue/Saturation - i dropped the saturation, and colorized it
Brightness/Contrast - upped the contrast a bit
i also did a median of 1 pixel to the original to smooth some noise
what do you guys think? are these steps acceptable? (i guess my main concern would be the median and the colorization)

Hue/Sat and Brightness should be fine on adjustment layers as long as they are applied to the whole image (no masking) and in "Normal" mode.
I'm not familiar with "median" -- how do you set/apply that? |

filter>noise>median (in PS)
it essentially "blends" out noise at the expense of detail (of course). you just set the radius. on a 3000x2000 image with a slight bit of noise, a radius of 1 or 2 pixels cleans the image up enough to please.
thank you for your comment - TO THE POSTING BOARD!!!

Is it legal to select one block of an area to clean up the white or such? I don't have the ability to do it any other way right now than to select that chunk and adjust tint/color. The rules do get confusing (I am referring to member challenge rules in this case). |

i dont think you can "spot edit" an image. i KNOW you can't in basic challenges, but i'm not sure about the advanced challenges...i don't think you can there either

In the Members' Challenges, pretty much the only things you can't do are combine multiple images, or copy/move parts of an image. Pretty much anythign else is allowable. But keep in mind how the voters will perceive heavy editing.

If that's true, that is very simple to go by! Thanks! |
