I am using, both, Nik and Topaz with Photoshop CC. I didn't realize that anybody was having problems with compatibility. |
Tell me how you got them to mount? I was unable to accomplish this. |
Ahh, yes, now I remember that I forgot that it wasn't so simple. I eventually called Nik at Google and they said that they were aware of the problem and were working on a solution. Maybe that solution is the video that Frank posted. Anyway, what they directed me to do was to uninstall and delete the Nik suite. Then download and install it again but following their specific directions. I don't remember exactly what those directions were but I do remember the part about installing it in the 64 bit folder and Plugin folder of CC.
If I can find the step by step direction I will get them to you, however, I would think that their more recent solution in that video is now your best bet.
By the way, I've been reading the debate between keeping older versions of Photoshop versus going with the subscription. For me, one huge feature that I have been thrilled with in CC is the 'Shake Reduction'. Wow! If used in moderation, that feature is awesome. I've been going through my archives and having fun processing photos in which I was previously unhappy with the sharpness due to camera shake. My recent handheld macros have also benefited from that feature.
Let me know if you don't get it working and I'll see if I can track down those step by step instructions. |

My computer died the other day, and am now trying to get CS back up and running on my new computer. Sadly Adobe's online registration and lack of phone support is such a crap fest (I spent half an hour yesterday trying to explain that "error code:6" is not the same thing as "exit code:6" but my accent seems to have been too heavy to make myself clear) that it is easier to download a pirated version of my old software than it is to activate my old software that I own.
If the whole point of Creative Cloud was to limit piracy, it sure seems to be working the other way around. |

I have the NIK collection plugged in to CC on my work and home computers. Wish I could tell you exactly how I did it... a lot of trial and error.
I also love 'shake reduction' in moderation. Perfect for the birds and for macros. I also like that I can send a picture from PS back into RAW with just one click.
ETA: the educational price on this is ridiculously low. I get the entire CC suite for $15/month. I've downloaded Dreamweaver CC, Muse CC, Illustrator CC, Photoshop CC, Premier Pro CC, Lightroom, and Audition CC... that's about half of what they offer. I'm even actually actively using several of them. :)

I think this pretty radical price drop is an indication that their plan is not working out for them as they had hoped. I think the best thing to do at this point is to keep avoiding their pay to play scheme altogether, as that is the only way that we may actually see a version in the future you can actually own.
Sadly, I think a lot of people are going to get hooked with the new lower price that will inevitably get raised in the future. Once they have you hooked, you are pretty much at their mercy, as the cost of leaving will be pretty high for all your existing content.
Hold out I say, and there may be a CS 7 in the future after all! |

While better, I am still not in favor of having to pay the rest of my life, or have useless software on my drive.
I still have a windows 3.11 machine that still runs. I don't really use it. But if I had to, I could. |

just wondering...how are they going to adjust things for those who already bought in and have been paying a higher price? or, are those that did simply paying the penalty for being early adopters? |

They say there will an automatic price adjustment for those who previously bought the single-product license, plus they will add LR to it automatically. |

Just talked to Adobe. The $9.99 per month is only for the first year. I know I read that if you had CS3 and bought by Dec. 1st you could have the $9.99 per month forever. They've changed their mind. Adobe can't be trusted. |

Given today's announced attack on Adobe Creative Cloud where a breach stole source code and customer data which puts their subscribers at risk."Effectively, this breach may have opened a gateway for a new generation of viruses, malware, and exploits." and the issues adding non Adobe filters, I think I will decide to sit this out for a bit.
"Adobe dropped the bombshell revelation shortly after KrebsonSecurity's Brian Krebs reported that the hack began sometime in mid August and was carried out by the same criminals who breached LexisNexis and other major US data brokers. In the course of investigating the earlier intrusions, Krebs said he happened upon a 40 gigabyte trove of source code, much of it belonging to Adobe. Adobe confirmed its ColdFusion Web application software and its Acrobat document program were among those that were stolen."
For you subscribers, keep a close eye on your credit card statements.

Wow that is scary!!
Chief Security Officer Brad Arkin said in a statement that the company believes the attackers accessed Adobe customer IDs and encrypted passwords and removed data relating to 2.9 million Adobe customers. That information includes customer names, encrypted payment card numbers, expiration dates and information relating to orders, he said.

OMG, that plain sucks. It was definitely going to be attractive when it was forever.

Yes, the price only guaranteed to be $9.99 for 12 months.
But that sounds really reasonable from here. |

NIK has now made their "collection" mountable in CC. Just re-install using the link they provided, and you'll have the new "Analog Efex" and everything else in Photoshop CC, either 32 or 64 bit versions (or both). Topaz works too now, installed via the advice on their site, so FINALLY CC is good to go for me.
One thing I immediately noticed, much to my relief: CC captured my actions from CS6 and put them in place, and it has my preferences as well, so that was mostly seamless. Interesting discovery: in CC, under "Filters", there's a link to "Camera Raw" filter! This is fantastic, it lets me use ALL those adjustments as an editable layer :-) |

I played it safe in a way. I was at BestBuy and I saw that Adobe has a yearly license. It's called Adobe Photoshop CC 12-month prepaid membership. For at least this year until I get my taxes done, I figured I get it and I have been happy so far. The only drawback is that you have to use it at least once a month and log in with your adobe sign in also once a month. If not then here is the suckie part about it, you are locked out.
//www.bestbuy.com/site/adobe-photoshop-cc-1-year-prepaid-subscription-card-mac-windows/9264079.p?id=1219010355605&skuId=9264079&st=adobe photoshop&lp=14&cp=1#tab=overview
At least this way, Adobe doesn't have my credit card info since I got it with my BestBuy card. |

Did you register CS3 after you bought it?

What's really interesting is that Adobe sent out a survey this past week, same kind of thing they did prior to the initial release of CC. I filled it out, basically it has you rate fourteen different pricing scenarios; wondering if others here have received the same survey?

Do they ask whether you've had to change/close your credit card account, or if in the future you'll be sending cash in the mail? |
