Has this been suggested before? I think it would make an interesting challenge:

Come up with a good title (or even better, ask Zeuszen for a title - he has the best titles) and make it the challenge for everyone to take a photo that fits this title.

A similar challenge would be to come up with a verse or line from a poem or song and make it the challenge to translate the words to a beautiful photo. Or, take a whole poem (I would choose, for example, Coleridge's "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner") as the topic, the challenge would be to come up pictures that illustrate something in the poem.

Kind of like a reverse caption contest. I like it.

Yeah - one of the Camera Clubs in my area has an annual assignment called "Song Title." When they show each of the slides, they play a short blurb from the songs. Some last year were "Raindrops keep falling on my head", "White Christmas", and "An American in Paris."

It's a fun thing to do.

Cool idea.

One title I think would be interesting, allowing people to perhaps do some artistic things with their kids or things associated with kids (like places, pets, etc.):

"My childhood is just a blur to me now."

Or, from some strange "Dan Hicks" songs I am just listening to:

"I don't want love"
"I scare myself"

Another favorite songwriter, Jill Sobule:

"Good Person Inside"
"The Couple on the Street"

Though now that I think of concrete example, many of these other than the first sound like simple challenge titles in themselves. Are we just introducing a level of indirection is saying it is a single title?

Does that mean that every photo in the challenge would have the exact same title?!

P.S. We did have a Song Titles challenge already.

Yes, I was thinking that every photo in the challenge would have the same title. In the case of a poem, it would be the SAME poem for all the pictures, not a poem of your choice.

edit: It's probably the ABE person in me thinking, "Hey, we can get a bunch of grown-ups to read a poem here!"

If there was a challenge where there was no titles. The Challenge name is the title of the shot. Well, I guess it wouldn't really work out for stats, and for browsing, and for searching and for....ah, oh well.

On a completly different note: Verbs: Take a shot of an action verb. Walk, run, jump, throw, catch, etc. Have your subject doing one of these verbs. (could also be call motion verbs, or action verbs.)

In a poem/song (same poem/song) you wound't need the same title for all the pictures, as the titles could quote from the poem/song.

The other one, yes, if you'd search for that "title", you'd get all entries. I wouldn't think that's a problem.

Verbs. Interesting. Nouns and adjectives aren't so bad either, but, please, NO CONJUNCTIONS! Such a challenge might cause a lot of problems :))

No Conjunctions? :(

Then I couldn't use this...
