Not sure why this was designated Expert. But I shall play.

Can someone from the SC shed light on this challenge? I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the perimeters. Thanks

Well, as a Marine you SHOULD understand perimeters, even if *parameters* occasionally elude you. But, to answer your question, SC has nothing to do with challenge choices and, in my experience, never enters into any attempted-definition wordplay on these.

Do something crazy that does NOT have your face in in it, is my advice, since your wonderful mug seems to meet every challenge in which it's entered :-)

Thanks! I took Math for Marines, but the spelling for Marines eluded me. :) I'll take your advice this time, no MUG! I have a couple of ideas.

But in the end, I'm thinking it's a FS...

It is essentially a Free Study, but IMO, it should be a little convoluted or outrageous and/or have a contradictory title as you mentioned. Visual paradoxes would meet the challenge and therefor should be DNMC'd. ;-)

Oh, and I got yer DNMC right here.

a LITTLE convoluted or outrageous ....? ah well, plus ca change...

I have an image of Slippy doing unspeakable things with a horse. Would this count as DNMC?

When you say "I have an image..." do you mean literally or figuratively?

Doesn't matter, really, does it?
We all have that image now.
Maybe I'll go back and look at orange man again.

ROFL..

Seriously though, does anyone have even the foggiest idea what the heck this should look like? Is it just a freestudy with an uber creative name?

Exactly the same as a Free Study the only difference being that you have to add some kind of title that doesn't fit the image.

Seems to me that the only way to do this challenge proud is to not create a photograph at all. Sit in a darkened room and don't go anywherre near your camera all week. I like it. It has a dark dark philosophy to it. E. M Cioran would be proud. Sometimes the best thing to do is absolutely Nothing.

Create a quality image of something, and title it well, that's the challenge it seems. It's all in the title.

the best will do nothing, while the worst are filled with passionate intensity.

That must make me among the worst of the worst, 'cuz I went right to work with intense (albeit slightly dispassionate) energy the morning-of and had an entry in by noon :-)

Experiencing the DPC gyre, eh? Would he be the falcon or the falconer? My memory is shot, things are falling apart up there. It's as if my mind's gone all anarchic on me. I long for the days of innocence, though (truth be told) they were largely ceremonial.

So.....if an image does not meet the challenge, then in actuallity it actually has met the challenge, and so it is therefore DNMC?

Clear as day to me ;)
