I don't think it would be fair to adjust the scores more than that.

Your standardized theory is a little flawed. There is no guarantee that all people effected would send a PM to Cory. Actually many people here don't even read these threads.

My personal view is that Cory is quite within his right to vote down entries that aren't easily linked to the original and that should be the end of it.

The solution to this problem would be in the future making an extra rule stating a link must be provided in the title. This argument comes overtime we have these types of challenge and it is getting a little disappointing that an easy solution is not implemented.

All I know is that since this argument started my score has dropped over .5. Yep, over a full half point. And my image is one that is easily compared to the original.

Disappointing, people.

As one of the photographers affected both ways by Cory's actions (punished, redeemed, and repunished, so to speak), let me go on record here as saying "I don't care!" It's all in good fun anyway, and sometime people take it a little too seriously. This was a very unusual situation. I entered KNOWING that I would get hammered, and I'm getting hammered, so it's all good.

The thing of it is, and I say this with a BIG grin, the information that I did bury within my title should have been sufficient to lead a smart guy like him to the title within a couple minutes, easily. So, what can I say? :-)

*plonks several types of beers, wine, bread and cheese on the table and sits down*

The practical upshot is that both PennyStreet , Cory and others who have joined the debate is that, in their own ways, trying to help. I said my piece earlier because as generous as Cory's offer is, I think it skirts dangerously on the acceptability on the voting rules. Once the vote has been cast, I think it should only be changed if *you*, the voter, are willing to go back to determine the merits of the photo without ANY outside influences. Cory, I just don't want to see you burned for that....and I'd hate to see the backlash that may or may not be visiting on parties that are not involved in this debate.

There is more I could say, but I start and stop and the words are beginning to swim before my eyes.

I'm hungry and brain-tired, so let's eat!
Oh, and anyone is welcome to bring some food or drinks to this table, sit and eat:-)

Love ya brother Bear, but I had to be fair.

Of course I could have found it in a few minutes. I simply was feeling rather more judicial and much less detectivish.

Like I said, I certainly could have found many of them, easily. Yours still would have presented a small challenge even when looking. I'm sure you're getting murdered for it.

Hell, honestly, I wish mine wasn't doing as well as it is.

and as a matter of a fact I think I'll go amend the comments such that it appears it never happened. why not.. in the end that's the net effect - nothing changed. Just a fun bit of drama I suppose.

They need not be. It is what one makes of it:-)

Wow, I've had no takers on the food on the table and it's good cheese (Mt. Tam, Raclette, Manchego...)!!!! I was sure that Bear was going to bring some yummy dish to the table and several others had something good to share:-) Hmmm, maybe I should have brought a dessert?!:-)

Anyway had a full diner and off to comment again.

I brought some nuts to go with the cheese. Although we've probably got enough nuts around here as it is. :)

What? No popcorn? And this would have been the perfect meal for it.

Well, I can offer the memory of a feast, prepared by Bear_Music a while back: ,
or perhaps the fish that got away, (don't ask), or even
the plate of bruschetta that I made 'from scratch' a week or so ago.
Yes, let's EAT!

I personally think it was silly to expect voters to do research any image prior to voting. Its hard enough to get them to vote in the first place.

For this challenge I simply am going on good faith that your submission is a redo of someone elses DQ and voting accordingly. And if not, so what, its not the end of the World.

Not comparing the photo with the original has no point in this challenge. This is not a FS. But as you said, we'll be still alive after this challenge.
09/29/2013 10:47:16 AM · #73
It's all about realistic expectations. If we could link the thumbnail of the predecessor to the submission, then it'd work. But making the voter go look for it just was never going to work.
09/29/2013 11:16:57 AM · #74
Of course. But the problem is up to the author of the photo, not to the voter.

That will definitely work in my favor, Garry :) My "copy" pales in comparison to the original but I think doesn't look that bad on its own LOL
