They can connect to Lego Technic, but are a separate thing.

No. No ceramics, it is the paint that makes it look like ceramic. Not on purpose, just came out like this on the image.

No. It seems that the image looks like being bell-shaped, when in fact the mid point is further from the camera than the sides.
