Wow, that's awesome!
Both power and grace, mesmerizing to watch.

Hah, that's amazing...

You know, it gives me pause to think: we mostly relate to our DPC compatriots based entirely on what we know of them through our forum interactions, yet presumably many, if not most, of us have one or another highly-developed, non-photographic skill that might cause the rest of us to drop jaws and say "Sweeeeetttt!"

We have members who play in orchestras, for example. A member has a rock band. Another's an extraordinary chef. At least one of us can helm a large sailboat downwind in heavy seas like nobody's business. The list could go on and on.

People are wonderful, aren't they?

And as Jackie Gleason would say, how sweet it is!

I don't have any music videos at YouTube(yet), but I do have a time-lapse movie I made with my Canon S3 and Premiere ... Queen of the Night

I've got a few...

Probably my best are a cool UrbEx video I made in Galveston, and a big Flash Flood.

ETA: Apparently my superpower is living through risky behavior.

Good grief, that was beautiful.

Now, would someone tell me what I just saw?

The first was some sort of practice or competition, not entirely sure of what form of martial art it is.

The second was a 'kata' or form. Essentially a set of choreographed moves that are meant to simulate a fight against one or more opponents. I don't miss them.

It is Taiji Quan, also spelled as Tai Chi, a form of martial art. This particular style is the Chen Family style, the originators of this martial art.

The first clip is a funny compilation (done by my daughter) of the final of the push hands - fixed step competition, a softer form that still requires a lot of skill, strength and timing. Causing the loosing of balance followed by the move of the foot, fall etc is awarded points accordingly. My friends call me the thumb wrestler champion LOL

The second clip is also a competition where the athletes show their skills and are given scores by a set of judges, pretty much on technicality, form, balance, smoothness etc like in gymnastics or figure skating.

Taiji Quan is practised nowadays as a form of fitness as well but it is a martial art.

Thank you, Tiberius for the explanation.
That second clip was an exceptional piece of poetry in motion.
Were you competing against the person in white?
Or each of you simply demonstrating those exceptional moves separately.

You are very welcome.

We were three athletes in the court. Due to the fact that the routine is quite long (time is also a criteria no less then 4 min no longer then 5.5 min) the 2 to 3 artists compete at the same time.

Taiji is poetry in motion.

Regards,

T
