Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L IS

For anyone interested who doesn't have USB 3.0, I'm getting sustained read and write rates over 180MB/s with a single SATA drive using this Thunderbolt dock. Very handy for 300GB+ photo libraries that used to take me days to backup!

Rockin' transfer rates! Are you using a SSD? I didn't think there was a rotating drive in existence that could sustain those rates!

Nope, that was tested with a 3TB Seagate Barracuda. I didn't know they could go that fast either.

Storage Review agrees. Scroll down about 2/3 of the way. The Crystal DiskMark results at the outer platter edge are right at 190MB/s for sequential reads/writes. You can expect about half that at the inner tracks.

This drive is nearly full and still peaking over 190MB/s both ways.

Is that from the benchmark or actual backups? Backups often are reporting backup speed--including the benefits of compression.

I'm also curious running your benchmark what your internal drive benchmarks to.
