lense? I am thinking about trying it. If anyone has any comments, let me know. From what I have read and heard, it should work, but I may be lacking some features. My biggest question is "Is it worth it?".
Thanks!

I have tried my D70 with three diferent AF zoom-nikor lenses. Works perfect. It's working just as good as with the DX kit lens. |

Works just fine. Is there a specific problem you are anticipating?

well, not really, but I was just looking into getting a new camera ( I bought my Olympus C-3030z in 1998, and my (film) Nikon N70 before that), and I don't want to waste my money. I have not used the nikon that much, being that it is not digital, and I prefer to do all my processing in house (short of developing the film in the house, and scanning it in with my film scanner!). And, I was looking into the C-8080z, because it is an all in one package, and I don't have a large budget to spend on camera "stuff". But, I was reading about the sensor size, and how you will get superior photos with an DSLR, because of the sensor size, and that it is not all about the pixels. I just figured that I could reuse my lense on a Nikon D70, and maybe spend close to the same amount as I would on the C-8080, and get a better camera. I just didn't know if the lenses were interchangable. For that new Olympus that they built from the ground up to be digital (their new DSLR), the lense are not. And, I was reading on Nikon web site, that some features between the D70 and an older lense may not work. So, I am trying to get feedback as to what does work, and how well. Thanks for your imput, and I would like more from anyone who has done this! Thanks, again!

The way I understand it all nikor lenses will work on all nikon camera bodies. For the d 100 and I believe for the d 70 you should try to use type d or g lenses. This will allow you to take advantage of all the cameras features. I think it is a wise choice to spend the money on the body and then use your previous lense system. I also think that you should ask your camera professional before you buy. |

See here, here and here to help your try and determine what Nikon lenses may work, may not work or may sort of work on a Nikon body... |

Thanks for the info, I think that I have an AIS lense...But my lense does not look exactly like those pictured on the tripod web site...but it does have the smallest aperature in orange! There is no metal showing on the backside (where the lens attaches to the camera). It is an AF Nikkor lens, 35-80mm, 1:-5.6D, F4-22. |

I also don't have that "fork" on my lens, is that something that is supposed to be there? I thought that I read that they got rid of it, because it was damamging camera bodies...

Daneille,
These are the lenses that I can verify work on the D70.
Nikon/Nikkor sf 50mm f/1.8
Nikon/Nikkor sf 50mm f/1.4
Nikon/Nikkor 28-70 f/3.5-4.5
Nikon/Nikkor 75-300 f/3.5-5.6
Nikon/Nikkor 17-35 f/2.8
Nikon/Nikkor 24-85 f/2.8-4
Sigma 50-500 f/4-6.3
All of the above lenses work (meaning autofocus) on the D70. The 17-35 and 50-500 do no not autofocus on older film bodies (only manual focus) like 6006's but probably would work on your N70.
When picking up your D70, take your lenses with you. Then there will be no question in your mind.
